1. Thats a pretty poor design. I see that your truck is dropped extensively, so you probably don't have much spring deflection in the rear at this point. If you do, then you cannot directly bolt a bar from the leaf spring to the frame.

#1 · Jan 29, 2007 (Edited) I'm putting a 383 (sbc) in a '82 AMC spirit that is equipped with leaf springs. I'm gonna be swapping in a new differential entirely (8.8" ford), and I figure while I'm in there I'll try to do something to beef it up so I can get a good launch with the bigger motor.

Here is what I did to mine whae installing the CalTracs.I made a washer out of 1/8 steel plate and machined a step in it to pilot in the large hole bolted it in and welded it as best possible.It has been fine for years.The large cupped washer is a poor design.
