Artist Johan Laurentz Jensen (1800-1856), better known as I. L. Jensen, was already making a name for himself with his artistic talent whilst studying at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. He originally wanted to be a portrait painter, but as a pupil of the flower painter C.D. Fritzsch (1765-1841), he decided to specialise.
