Full of surprises and named for the tigers that once roamed there, Wat Rong Suea Ten is a six-acre property located in Rim Kok, a subdistrict of Chiang Rai. More commonly referred to as the Blue Temple, its monastery and pagoda were built upon the ruins of an ancient temple, abandoned 80 to 100 years prior.

Wat Rong Suea Ten (วัดร่องเสือเต้น) aka the Blue Temple is in Rong Suea Ten Village in the Rimkok District, on the north side of the Kok River. The temple is close to the famous Chivit Thamma Da Coffee House. Chiang Mai already has its White Temple, Wat Rong Khun. It now has its Blue Temple.

Most people say that the White Temple is the best Chiang Rai temple, closely followed by the Black House. I feel that the Blue Temple (Wat Rong Suea Ten) is not yet as highly rated mainly because it is so new and therefore relatively undiscovered. Building commenced in 2005 and finished in 2016. The beauty of its vibrant blue colour therefore.

Wat Rong Suea Ten is open after 6 pm, making it a great option for visitors with limited time. The temple's blue and gold stupa is unique and blends Burmese and Nepalese temple forms. The temple is beautifully decorated both inside and out, with lots of space to sit and relax.
